PURPOSE FOR EVALUATION:	The purpose of this evaluation is to look into the Ewell families household.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES:	We went to the Ewell household and observed their way of living. We focused on Mayella Ewell and Bob Ewell. To better understand Mayella’s claim about Tom Robinson.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:	The Ewells are a well-known family in Maycomb County. The Ewells are not that wealthy and are considered human trash by others. The Ewells don’t believe in going to school for more than one day. Bob Ewell is the father of eight and is an alcoholic. Bob has never kept a job for a while and does not really support the family. Their oldest daughter Mayella Ewell is the main reason for this report of the Ewell household. She claims that Tom Robinson rapped her. With few pieces of evidence backing up her claim, we have decided to do a report of the home environment of the Ewells.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:	The Ewells live behind the town garbage dump in a cabin. The cabin’s walls were supported with sheets of corrugated iron and the roof was shingled with flattened tin cans. There were open spaces in the walls that served as window that, during summer, were covered with pieces of greasy cheesecloth to keep out varmints. Their yard was inclosed by a variety of stick-like objects including shovels, tree-limbs, broomsticks, and more. In a corner of the yard, all in a row, were six brilliant red geraniums that were thought to be cared by Mayella Ewell.
OBSERVATIONS OF OCCUPANTS:	Only go to school once per year. Mayella does a lot of chores and gets occasional beatings by her father. Father drinks a lot and does not do much for his children. Mayella is treated differently than the other children because she is the only one with an education and a work ethic of any sort.

 

SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATIONS:  

In conclusion, the ewells need to get into a better home. The Ewels need some financial help and some parental figures to guide them into a better lifestyle. In the Ewels should actively try to learn so they can get into successful careers and rewrite their family name.
