PSYCHOLOGICAL  EVALUATION
(Maycomb County Psych Evaluations)
Tom Robinson                                                                                   Date of Evaluation: 8/24/35
Case No. 144390

ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES:
Patient Interview and observation at trial.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Mr. Robinson is 25 years young. He was married and has three children of all different ages. Mr. Robinson has been in trouble with the law before. In fact, he once received 30 days for disorderly conduct (216). Mayella Ewell has continuously invited Mr. Robinson into her yard to help her with chores around the house. Being himself, he happily agreed to help her numerous times without complaint. He lives down the street from the Ewells and has to pass their house to get to town the fastest. He does not live the dream in America. They live very different from people like the Finches. For example, they have to cook their own meals because they’re colored.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Mr. Robinson’s left arm was caught in a cotton gin when he was a child. As a result, his left arm is twelve inches shorter than his right and he can not use it.  Because of the injury, he is right handed. He is a black-velvet Negro, not shiny, but soft black velvet. The whites of his eyes shine in his face, and when he speaks we see flashes of his teeth. If he had been whole, he would have been a fine specimen of man (219).

PERSONALITY:
Mr Robinson appeared on time in a neatly pressed suit. He answered all of the questions without hesitation and seemed to be answering truthfully. He is always happy to help others (like he did with Miss. Ewell). He seems to be a respectable negro. He goes to church every Sunday and participates and talks with the elders.

SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATIONS: After witnessing the trial and interviewing Mr. Robinson, we think that he is sane and has no trace of mental illness. If anything, some of the witnesses were giving false information which would result in lying or mental illness. We advise people to look further into the case. Many people that go to jail are falsely accused of an action.
